Challenging

You may challenge any player who is ranked up to 3 spots above you. For example, if you are rank #10, you can challenge #9, #8, or #7. To execute a challenge, do the following:

  1. Step 1 Contact the player you wish to challenge and let him/her know you are initiating a challenge. Be sure that the player acknowledges/accepts your challenge.
  2. Step 2 Send an email to ladder-admin@googlegroups.com with subject "TT Ladder Challenge" and include the name of the person you are challenging. When successfully received/entered, the challenge will be displayed on the ladder system main page.
  3. Step 3 Play the match. This must happen within 14 days of the match being entered/listed on the ladder system. The entered date will be shown.
  4. Step 4 Upon completion of the match, send a second email to ladder-admin@googlegroups.com showing the date the match was played and the results (e.g. number of games won by each player). Based on the results, the ladder ranking will be updated accordingly. Match results will also appear in Recent/Full Activity and by clicking on either player's name in the Player Roster.

Match Format

Standard matches are Best of 5 games, however if both players agree to play Best of 3 that is also an option. Each game is played to 11 points (must win by 2).

Ranking Changes

If the Challenger wins, they take the spot of the person they defeated. The loser and everyone in between moves down one spot. If the Defender wins, no ranks change.

The 7-Day Rule

To prevent "gatekeeping" and ensure variety, the same two players cannot record a match against each other until 7 full days have passed since their last encounter.

Reporting Results

Matches should be recorded immediately after play. If a challenged player refuses a match without a valid reason for more than 2 weeks, they may be forfeit to a lower rank.

Player Status Change

When a user requests to have their status changed to "Inactive" this will be done for a minimum time period of 1 month. When a player is in Inactive status:

  • They can't be a challenger (can't initiate challenges)
  • They can't be challenged (can't defend their position)
  • They can however be "skipped over" — if player #5 is inactive, player #7 can challenge player #4, and if #7 wins, #5 would shift down
